Uber vs. Rental Car
Should you rent a car or use rideshare for your Disneyland or Disney World vacation?
One of the most common questions our Utah travel agents get is how to get around once you land. The answer completely depends on which park you are visiting and how large your family is.
Disneyland (California)
Using Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)
Our Recommendation: Do This!
- Anaheim is dense. You will likely stay within walking distance of the gates.
- Avoid paying $35+ per night for hotel parking.
- An Uber from SNA (Orange County) to Disneyland is usually under $35.
Renting a Car
Only if you're leaving Anaheim.
- You pay for the rental car, gas, AND hotel parking daily.
- Necessary if you plan to visit the beach (Huntington/Newport) or Universal Studios Hollywood.
Disney World & Universal Orlando (Florida)
Using Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)
- Great if you are staying "on property" at Disney or Universal, as they provide free bus/boat transport to the parks.
- Getting around Orlando without a car can be pricey if you are constantly switching between Disney and Universal.
Renting a Car
- Highly recommended if your vacation splits days between Disney World and Universal Orlando.
- Orlando is sprawling; driving yourself is often faster than waiting for buses.
- Beware of hotel parking fees and theme park parking fees.
